Worried about your picky eater this Thanksgiving? 5 Helpful tips for you!
Hey There,
If youre a parent worried about your picky eater this Thanksgiving, let me just tell you, you are NOT alone. So many of us spend time bargaining with our kids, praying they will just try one bite of the food we’ve spent all day (or all week!) preparing. Although holidays like Thanksgiving are hard, because they are SUPER focused on the food, here are a few helpful reminders for you to get you and your little one through the holiday
Some children require 20-30 exposures to a new food before they will engage and consume that food item. Start exposing your child to important foods at your Thanksgiving meal (think mashed potatoes, or candied yams!) a few weeks ahead if you can
It is super important to make sure we still keep 2-3 “safe” or preferred foods available to our children even if they don’t necessary “go with” the holiday theme. This allows for your child to consume foods that are comfortable to them, while interacting with new foods that they are still learning about
Try and remember that Thanksgiving is just ONE day on your picky eaters journey and that the holiday is about so much more than the turkey. Try and find gratitude in sharing the table with your little one, the laughter and memories and all of the silliness in between!
