Speech and Language Evaluation
Prior to every evaluation, the clinician and parent will discuss the child’s background, medical history and current abilities. An intake form will be completed to understand family goals of evaluation. Below are examples of the type of evaluation your child may receive based on his or her need.
Speech Evaluation- a speech evaluation will assess your child’s articulation skills. A standardized assessment will be completed and recommendations for further therapy will be made if needed. An oral motor assessment will also be completed to assess oral motor strength and range of motion.
Speech and Language Evaluation- a speech and language evaluation will assess multiple areas of your child’s language skills. Receptive language (the ability to comprehend information) and Expressive language(the ability to communicate thoughts and ideas) will both be assessed and formal testing will be administered. Further therapy will be recommended if needed.
